This event is hosted by the Seattle Design Center. With a concept designed by Ryan Wenzel Events, this Gala theme took a journey to the “Age of Design,” with a steampunk-inspired celebration of the Annual Northwest Design Awards. We incorporated a pair of rear projection screens, industrial styled truss speaker stands and a seamless switching system into their elaborate “steampunk set.”
I began working with Avidex on a large, annual event. My previous vendor experience had been exclusively event related, but my trust in the Avidex team easily developed, and I began to call on them for large and small scale productions, trouble shooting and equipment acquisition. Over the years, we improved the production caliber of that initial event, evolving it from an elegant awards banquet to a highly stylized, thematic showcase. For our steampunk year creation of mood and tone was essential to delivering the theme. The design included large moving gears, a complex, fractional stage with lighted tiers and dual projection systems. To complicate the process even further the venue had a unique set of conditions affecting setup. Despite those hurdles, the Avidex team was always professional, respectful, on time and on task. That steampunk year was easily one of my favorite productions and much of that was due to a seamless experience with lighting and sound – with Avidex.
